Here comes trouble...

Alex is officially on the move!!  He had been army crawling for weeks but on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 he crawled on all fours for an extend time for the first time.  Now there is no stopping him!!!  Watch out Mom, Dad, and Maiyah!

On the go!

We have video of him crawling but I will need to upload it later and post :)

It's been a while!

Wow...I can't believe that it has almost been two months since I've logged on and written a blog post.  I don't know where the time has gone...well, actually, I do...to work, grad school, caring for Alex, trying to squeeze in a little quality time with Justin and of course SLEEP!

I don't even know where to begin so I'll try to just give some highlights from the past two months.
Well...Alex turned six months on June 29, 2011.  Since then he has been becoming more and more mobile.  He gets up on all fours now and trys to crawl forward although his preferred method is still the "army" crawl.

Alex has enjoyed getting to spend some time in the ocean and pools this summer (although not nearly as often as you would think living in Hawaii).  We are looking at starting him on Parent/Tot swim lessons at the YMCA in October.  It is more of an experience with water safety and being comfortable in the water.  He already loves being in the water but I think knowing some safety procedures can't hurt!

Alex enjoyed celebrating another first birthday for our teacher group.  Zach was the first one to have a birthday in April, then Makenzie just turned one in August.  The next few months will be busy with Dylan in September, Mia in November, and Joseph (in Texas) and Alex turning one in December.

Alex just turned 8 months on August 29, 2011.  He is a busy little guy now!  He is putting "everything" in his mouth but still hasn't sprouted a tooth yet...probably soon since you can feel something when you rub his lower gums with your finger.

Here are a few pictures from the past two months...I'll try to be better at blogging (especially with all the fun holidays around the corner) but no promises ;)

Playtime!

Alex has been a busy boy lately. He loves to play in his exersaucer and is learning how to shoot hoops with his baby basketball set.  The only problem is that Maiyah has a squeaky bouncy ball that is almost identical to his (his don't squeak though) so I keep catching her trying to sneak in his room to steal a ball!

6 months old!

Wow...I can't believe that Alex turned six month old this week!  Time sure is flying by!
We have his 6 month doctor's visit on July 5.  I can't wait to see how much he has grown.
He is starting to eat "solid" foods and seems to be enjoying them.  He is sitting for a few second unsupported or for longer if he had a toy in front of him or his boppy pillow for support.
His biggest milestone (for me at least) is that he said his first word while we were on vacation.
On June 15, 2011, Alex woke up in the middle of the night because he had flipped over onto his belly and couldn't flip back over.  He started yelling "Mama...Mama"!  Of course I came running to his aide.  He has been saying it ever since :)  Justin is trying to work on "Dada" but so far it is still "Mama" he likes saying.

Half way to his first birthday!!

Busy Summer!

It has been a while since I've had the chance to sit down and update this blog.  A few days after school let out, we packed up and headed to the mainland for a three week visit with our families.  We started our adventure on Monday, May 30 but didn't actually leave Hawaii until Wednesday, June 1.  We had attempted to use standby tickets (big mistake when trying to leave Hawaii... on the mainland they worked fine).  Once we made it to the mainland, we spent the first week and a half in PA visiting MomMom, PopPop, Uncle Joe, Aunt Joanne, Marissa, Morgan, Nicholas, Uncle Bob, Aunt Sharon, Andrew and Samantha (we also got to see many other important friends and family).
The highlights of our trip to PA were Alex's baptism, introducing Alex to his Lerario family members and spending some relaxing time at the shore.

My favorite picture from the baptism

After our time in PA, we flew to Colorado for another week.  While in Colorado, we spent a lot of time just hanging out up at Justin's dad and stepmom's house.  It is really way out there in the mountains so we waited until Justin's sister, Tina, and some of her kids came up to plan some excursions to town.  We went to a western dinner/show at the Flying W Ranch and went to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo.  We had a great time at the zoo.  Our favorite part was the giraffe exhibit.  It was made so that you walk around at eye level with the animals and can feed them lettuce.
